I have always loved the way fashion visually reveals personality. Wearing clothes that make you feel good, clothes you love, can show who you are on the inside or who you want to be. I have studied fashion + art because I am fascinated with the way styling can be used to define and redefine a person...all with the simplicity of a new hat or dress.

I also enjoy considering the origins of the clothes I see...what country they were made in, or the life they lived before they were thrifted, etc. Rings are a staple in my wardrobe and I realized I have added to my collection from a huge array of places.

Learn how I organize my jewels + gems and read about where I found some of my faves below. Let me know in the comments if you’d like me to do this sort of thing with bracelets or necklaces or clothing in general in the future!!

Organization

I keep my rings sorted on a piece of driftwood. It’s not the most traditional or sophisticated method of jewelry storage but it works for me!! I use three of the ‘branches’ to separate silver, gold, and my favorites rings.

Little Stories About My Fave Rings

Every year for my birthday ((since I was 15))  I go with my Mom to pick out 1 new special ring. The first member of this group was this thread-thin rose gold ring from Free People. I love how delicate and dainty it is and I almost never take it off.

This ring I got for my 16th birthday and I LOVE it. It’s a silver band with a turquoise stone from a designer who had pieces at Free People for a while.

This ring was for my 17th birthday. My birthstone is an opal so I was drawn to this Free People gold ring with 4 opals. It reminds me of a crown a princess would wear, and again I love how delicate it is.

This ring was my 18th birthday present from a designer named Polly Collins. Each silver moon face ring is one-of-a-kind and she hand carves each little face into each little ring. I love when light trickles through the carving and the simplicity of this piece.

This ring is a bit of a family heirloom that my grandma gave me when I was 15 or 16. I believe it was her great grandmother’s and it's been passed down for years to me. It is a gold band with an opal in the center and three precious tiny diamonds on either side.

This ring was probably the most fun to buy. I found this gem while traveling in Italy at this beautiful jewelry store in Bellagio. I remember how kind the woman working there was and how many rings I tried on before finding the one. (; It is a rose gold band with frosted rose quartz in the center.

This ring is kind of funny because it is half of a yin and yang symbol. I was at LF in Laguna and I found it on the ground and asked one of the girls working there if they had more ((whole)) ones and she said they were sold out but that I could keep the half I’d found. I was pretty stoked about this at the time and like to think some cool delinquent teen out there in the world has the other half.

I like stacking this ring a lot with small rings that have a little gem or stone in the middle because it fits perfectly in the center gap of this ring I found at COS in Barcelona. This ring was really inexpensive and the silver varnish is fading to reveal a copper base but I like the distressed look especially because I mix and match my metals regardless.

This ring was handmade by an artist at Lux Art Institute in Encinitas. It is beautifully made and the stones are like marbles and glisten in the sun. The silver band is pretty malleable and can be shaped all sorts of ways around different fingers and can be worn normally or as a midi ring in effect.

I’ve had this silver ring from Etsy forever. It was hand-stamped and says ‘curiouser and curiouser.’ Through The Looking Glass has been one of my favorite stories since elementary school so I like to have the sentiment on my finger as a reminder to think up mad ideas and do impossible things before breakfast (;
