I think inspiration runs in a circular motion so here’s to hoping I can inspire all the incredible gals as much as they all inspire me. Badass Women is a series about capturing that positive energy and spreading it. Wanna help? Read about these cool girls and share their features with the women that inspire you!!
What is your relationship with beauty?
Beauty is the appreciation of combinations. In a world where everything seems independent: that we have different bodies, that moments are separated with time, that the touch of sand feels differently to the touch of grass, these “separate” entities coexist in the same world, strewn together through continuously strengthening time. What is beautiful is not a particular object itself, since nothing is entirely independent in the universe constructed on the reliance of cause and effect, but the physical, temporal, or auditory placement of qualities. Beauty is everything to me.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I open my eyes, laying in my bed, recollecting my thoughts, remembering how lucky I am to return to this amazing existence I’ve been blessed with and that I’ve created for myself. I start my day with a smile, as I know it will be a good day.
Top 3 things to do on your bucket list:
Live in a nude colony for at least 1 week.
Be in a feature film, at least as an extra.
Get hitched in Vegas.
If you could give advice to yourself as a ten-year-old, what would you say?
Embrace the weird; the weird is likely what sets you apart, so you should always exercise that.
Where’s your happy place?
It’s not about where you are physically, but rather mentally. Thus, I don’t have a happy place, but rather a happy state of mind I return to, independent from my surroundings.
Coffee or tea?
Tea, but I’m usually too lazy to heat up the water.
Where did you grow up?
Palos Verdes, California. It’s a small suburb along the coast of LA.
How old are you?
18, but mentally I’m 57.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about achieving potential, whether my own or others. Thus, I care strongly about environmental conservation, compassionate treatment of animals, and human love. If respect is awarded to every element in our observable existence, whether to a shrub or a door handle or your mother, the world could be the best possible place for everything in it. So I really strive to spread love through as many outlets as possible and I encourage others to do so too.
How and why did you start CAJU bedding?
My best ideas emerge while taking a shower, so this past summer of 2016, while the water streamed down my hair and absorbed into my scalp, so did the idea that would change my life. My entrepreneurial inklings, love of production, and passion for environmental causes inspired me to establish my own company, CAJU bedding. My Brazilian heritage is an integral aspect of my being, so of course I had to integrate Carioca culture into CAJU, as the word itself derives from the Portuguese word for cashew nut. Sustainability is a top priority for me in all aspects of my life, so I endeavored to ensure each aspect of the production process is the greenest possible. Additionally, 5% of every purchase is donated to The Nature Conservancy, which protects land, water, and resources in Brazil. After countless trips to downtown LA to source for vegan fabric, careful fragrancing of each product with Gardenia flower essential oils, and weeks spent developing my website, CAJU bedding was born.
